Joel was born to his parents, Simon Medina Jr., and Maria Dolores Tamez Medina, on Friday, March 2, 1984, in Galveston, Texas. His parents moved him and his brothers to Navasota early in his life. Joel always called Navasota his hometown and loved the community. He attended Navasota Public Schools. He began his adventures in making honest money at an early age. Joel would then become known for his hard work and quick ability to master any auto mechanic’s endeavor. He believed in hard work and creating a sense of beauty in his yard for all to see.
He was adventurous in accepting various music genres especially Rap, Spanish Rap, and some country music songs. His movie enthusiasm spanned over many years. He could give you an objective reading on movies he watched. Joel too enjoyed regular workout sessions in the gym to keep physically fit as protector of his family and home.
Joel as a dad loved cooking his famous waffles for his family as these were their delights. He was chef in his own kitchen and experienced much happiness seeing family and friends enjoying his home cooked food. His ultimate joy and deep love were for his family. Spending many hours with them, listening to their stories and taking long walks with his children in the surrounding parks. Joel had a deep love for his fur baby Snow, the Pit Bull Dog, who died recently. The Dallas Cowboys Football team has lost a great fan. This young man would leave his signature mark on his beloved Navasota by cruising around the city and playing his music ever so LOUD.
Preceding him in death are his father, Simon Medina Jr., and his sister, Ermelinda Medina.
Left to carry on his legacy are his wife, Melanie Escamilla; his children, Christopher Medina, Aaron Garcia, Natalie Medina, Amelia Medina, and Alison Garcia; his mother, his first love, Dolores Medina; his brothers, Simon Medina and Jeremy Medina; his close friends and other family members.
Honoring the life of Joel Medina as pallbearers are John Tamez, Dominique Lowery, Elijah Flores, Aaron Maldonado, Noe Torres III, and Mikey Torres; honorary pallbearers are his sons, Christopher and Aaron.
The family invites you to leave a kind word or share a memory of Joel.
