Joe Milton Hughey, 67, of Navasota passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Craig Foster of the Church of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment will follow in the Plantersville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Joe was born Tuesday, March 4, 1941 to Gordon L. and Sally "Johnnie" (Tillery) Hughey, in Navasota. He married Ruth Carraway on September 24, 1960 in Plantersville. Joe was a member of the Navasota Masonic Lodge #299, and the Sons of the Confederacy.
Mr. Hughey is survived by his wife, Ruth Carraway Hughey of Navasota; daughter & son-in-law, Jo Ann & Earnest Singletary of Willis; sons, Travis Milton Hughey of Navasota and James Allen Hughey of Navasota; sister, Evelyn Hughey Cline of Navasota; brother, Charles Garland Gregg of Walls; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon & Sally "Johnnie" Hughey, brother, Pinkney Howard Gregg; and sister, Mable Bush.
