Miss Jessica Marie Mattern, 16, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Visitation for Jessica and her sister Sierra Simmons will be held from 3-7pm Tuesday, June 23 at Nobles Funeral Chapel and funeral services are set for 10am Wednesday, June 24 at the Navasota Junior High School Gym with Deacon Herbert Wheatfall and Dr. Ronald A. Bogs officiating. Interment will follow in Plantersville Cemetery.
Jessica was born January 8, 1993 in Bryan, to Christopher Anthony and Crystal (Watkins) Mattern. She was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Diamonettes Drill Team. She played volleyball, softball, ran track, was in the 4-H Club, and loved to barrel race. She had just finished her sophomore year at Navasota High School.
She is survived by her parents, Crystal Simmons of Navasota, Anthony Mattern of Plantersville; step-father, James Simmons of White Hall; brothers, Matthew Mattern, Joseph Mattern and Timothy Mattern, all of Navasota; grandparents, Penny and Robert Watkins of Plantersville, Shirley and Maxie Ward of Plantersville, and Louise Simmons of Magnolia.
Jessica was preceded in death by her grandfather, Christy Mattern, and her 4 year old sister Sierra Simmons, who passed away two days after Jessica.
Serving as pallbearers are Preston Jollisant of Plantersville, Joseph Mattern, Cody Kelley, Anthony Fontana, Matthew Mattern and Asa Shiflett, all of Navasota.
There has been an account opened at Guaranty Bank in Navasota to assist the family.
