Jerry Harman, 70, of Richards, passed away Thursday, December 26 in Bryan. Jerry was born on August 24, 1943 in Houston to Earl and Gatsey Harman. Jerry served his country in the US Army from 1965 – 1967 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his discharge from the military, he worked 35 years for the U. S. Forest Service until his retirement.
Jerry was a devoted animal lover and raised cattle and registered quarter horses, particularly after his retirement. Many will remember him as soft spoken and polite, always in starched jeans and a shirt, boots, belt and a hat. He enjoyed the outdoors, helping others, hard work and deer hunting. He was a loyal friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Harman is survived by his lifelong companion and special friend, Sonya Moriarty of Huntsville, a brother, Obie Harman and wife Lou Nell of Richards; a nephew, Scott Harman and wife Stacy of Anderson; a great nephew, Cody Harman; a great niece Brailey Harman and a great step niece, Carley Lee, all of Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Mark Harman.
Please come celebrate his life with us at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 4 at Nobles Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Robert Stokes will officiate.
