Mrs. Janice Allen Trant, 70 of Anderson, passed away Friday, August 7th at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 12th at 10:00 AM in the Allen Family Cemetery (14600 FM 3090, Anderson, TX 77830). Rev Richard Lamb of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Janice was born in Navasota on August 1, 1950, to Cicero and Bernice (Leiber) Allen. She grew up in the Piedmont area of western Grimes county on her family’s ranch riding horses, working cattle and being the right hand man for her daddy. Janice attended and graduated from Navasota High School in 1968 , then attended Blinn Junior College and Sam Houston State University. On June 21, 1980, Janice married Bud Trant at Zion Lutheran Church of Anderson, the same church she was claimed and cleansed through Holy baptism and confirmed in Christ. She would eventually serve Zion for years as trustee and treasurer. Her highlight of church service was being a member of the building committees that planned and built the church’s current facilities. A life-long resident of Grimes County, Janice began her love of bookkeeping and accounting while working for J.H. Stoneham of Navasota for many years. She was a most proud public servant as Grimes County Treasurer, currently serving her third term. The employees of her office held a special place as family in her heart. Janice was the “go-to” treasurer for many county organizations including the VFW Auxillary and the Grimes County Historical Commission. She was well known for her uncompromised financial intergrity, ethics, professional moral code and contagious laughter. She was a true friend to anyone in need and was ever ready to support a cause for good. Her most recent passion became her three young grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles she loved.
Janice is survived by her husband Bud Trant of Piedmont ; son and daughter-in-law Jim-Bob and Lauren Trant of Anderson; brother Curtis Wayne Leiber of Friendswood; and grandchildren, Trace, Emma & William Trant.
Serving as pallbearers are John Truehitt, Michael Molitor, Joseph Schulze, Roman Trant, Hershey Perry, and Lloyd Finke. Honorary pallbearers include her beloved cousin Tommy Hurst, mentor and friend John H. Stoneham and the dedicated employees of Grimes County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the VFW Auxiliary Post #4006, PO Box 1573, Navasota, TX 77868, designated for the Janice Trant Memorial Scholarship.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the entire Grimes County community for their prayers, love and support throughout her battle. The outpouring of compassion and caring has been a true blessing throughout this difficult time.
