James "Scotty" Harvey, 80, of Iola entered into rest Monday, November 5, 2007.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7 at Iola Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Jones and Brother Bo Keithley officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Harvey was born on August 4, 1927 in Dallas, Texas, son of Margaret (Evans) and John Nolan Harvey.
Mr. Harvey is a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Santee.
Mr. Harvey leaves behind his wife, Faye Harvey of Iola; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Tammy Harvey of Iola, James Harvey, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a granddaughter, Heather Kay Harvey of Iola.
Mr. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John Harvey; brother, Nolan Harvey; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Henry Moreau; and sister-in-law, Louise Harvey
Serving as pallbearers are William Nevill, George Bethancourt, Charles McDuffie, Ira Betts, Kevin McDuffie all of Iola, and Gordon Coneley of Madisonville.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Van Fund of Iola Missionary Baptist Church - PO Box 220 Iola, Texas 77861 or Zion Cemetery Association - PO Box 374 Iola, Texas 77861.
