Hugh was born November 21, 1935 in McComb, Mississippi to Jesse Hugh and Veda Sue (Greer) Rushton. He graduated from high school and continued his education by earning his Bachelor of Science from University of Southern Mississippi. Hugh was known to be fair, honest and true to his word. His career in federal law enforcement spanned over three decades as a border patrol agent, eventually earning him the high ranking designation of Chief Border Patrol Agent until his retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed travelling, and had travelled to all 50 states here domestically, as well as several countries abroad. He loved family time, spoiling his grandchildren and living in the country… tending to everyday chores with both cattle and horses. He was a die-hard Aggie fan and enjoyed any type ball game A&M was playing, be it baseball, football or basketball. The Houston Astros were another favorite, and he was extremely proud of their recent World Championship title.
Hugh is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Stan and Mary Rushton of Spring, Steve and Carol Rushton of Grapevine and Lawrence and Viviana Rushton of Houston; stepdaughters Beverly Quintana and Barbara Calderon, both of Del Rio; sister and brothers-in-law Sharon and Paul Stogner of Mississippi and Charles and Josie Simpson of Marfa; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ann Rushton.
