Henry Lanteign, 99 of Navasota passed away Saturday, October 21st at his home. A private family memorial service is planned for a later date. Mr. Lanteigne was born November 1, 1917, in Leominster, Massachusetts. His parents were Eloi and Alice Amanda (Cartier) Lanteigne. He grew up in Shirley, Massachusetts, and attended Ayer High School. He was active in sports, especially hockey and baseball. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1942 with a degree in commerce. Shortly after that, in July, 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He married Clara Frances Akins in 1943, and they had eight children. He worked for the U.S. government in civil service and retired as chief of security for the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1981. He married Julia K. Brinkman in 1981. They lived in Machias, Maine, and then St. Augustine, Florida, until her death in 2007. In his later years he lived in Texas with his son John and daughter-in-law Jeni. He is survived by all his children, sons Herbert Leon, Donald Ray (Brenda) and William Henry, all of Indianapolis; John Richard (Jeni) of Navasota, Texas; and Kenneth Alan (Lesli) Lanteigne of San Angelo, Texas; and daughters Ruth Lanteigne of Iron Mountain, Michigan; Helen Joyce Lanteigne of Toronto, Canada; and Betty Faye Lanteigne of United Arab Emirates; as well as one sister, Alice M. Therriault of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Wayne Lanteigne, his brother Leon Francis Lanteigne, and his sisters Rosella Mary Stewart, Yvonne (died in flu epidemic of 1918 at age 3), Yvonne Beatrice Pushkar, Annette Marie Henry, Helen Dorothy Lanteigne, Phyllis Elizabeth McMillan, and Constance Mary Landry.
