Helen Wehrman

November 8, 1921 — December 15, 2012

Mrs. Helen Wehrman, 91, of Navasota passed away Saturday, December 15 at the Grimes St. Joseph Health Center. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 17 from 5-7pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A Rosary service will follow at 7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 2pm at Christ Our Light Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Helen was born on November 8, 1921, in Houston, the daughter of Frank & Victoria (Kosh) Hanus. She married Johnnie Wehrman in Bryan on August 7, 1940. She and her husband worked at Wehrman's Café & Grocery in Bryan in the 1950's. She was a waitress and loved serving all of her customers. The couple moved to Navasota in the late 1950's after the store closed. Helen then worked for Holsum Products for many years. She later worked in the sales department for the Navasota Examiner. She and Johnnie later went on to manage the Cow Talk Steak House in Navasota.
Helen was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed giving back to her community. She was liked by everyone she knew. She and her husband loved going to country & western dances at the VFW. Fishing was a favorite pastime as well as playing bingo with all of her friends. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Mrs. Wehrman was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Wehrman; her parents; brothers, F.J. & Albert Hanus; sisters-in-law, Birdie & Dixie Hanus; and brother-in-law, Hershel Newport.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Sampson and husband Sonny of Navasota and Shirley Finke and husband Floyd of Navasota; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Newport of Plano; grandchildren, Darrell Hurst, Mary Lynn Hurst, Mark & Lupe Finke, Lea Bourdo, and Pete & Aubrey Rotello; and great-grandchildren, Paden Hurst, Ramsie Hurst, Cheyenne Butler, Chelsea Butler, Courtney Finke, Weston Finke, Tyler Bourdo, Cody Bourdo, Cash Rotello, and Royce Rotello.
Serving as pallbearers are Darrell Hurst of Navasota, Paden Hurst of Navasota, Mark Finke of Navasota, Pete Rotello of Anderson, Kevin Bosse of Brenham, and Eddie Bosse of College Station. Honorary pallbearers are Neal Bosse, Dr. J.C. Webb, Marvin Struckmeyer, Mike Tinsley and Skeeter Stolz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Navasota VFW Post #4006.
