Guy Thomas Priestley, Jr. (G.T.) loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died on December, 22, 2009 at the age of 76 surrounded by his family after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Born on June 13, 1933 in New Albany, Indiana to Guy Thomas and Mary Priestley, he graduated from New Albany High School in 1951 and then enlisted with the US Navy. In 1952 he was activated for Korean War duty and was released in 1954 and remained in the reserve until his honorable discharge in 1959. After being released from active duty he attended and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career with Shell Oil Company. After 8 years with Shell Oil Company, he left to join Automatic Power where he remained for the next 33 years, holding several management positions before he was promoted to President. While working for Automatic Power, G.T. had the opportunity to travel all over the world with his wife, Joan and make many valuable friends and memories.
G.T. was an Eagle Scout and an Order of the Arrow member. He was also a member of the New Albany #39 and Richards #1116 Masonic Lodge, a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.
G.T. was preceded in death by his son, Guy Thomas Priestley III. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Riddle Priestley, daughter Sally Jo Scholz and husband Dieter, son Jeff Priestley and wife Susan, grandchildren, Chanda Cheney, Bobby Priestley and wife Jennifer, Blake, Kristie and Kevin Scholz, Lauren and Meghan Priestley. Great grandchildren Kayla, Karra, Thomas and Hannah Cheney.
Pallbearers are Blake Scholz, Kevin Scholz, Brandon Chambers, Peanut Jeffcoat, Jarrell Hayes and Dick Watts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, Texas. Services will be held at Bays Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 am in Richards. Graveside immediately following at The Priestley/Scholz Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Bays Chapel United Methodist Church, Richards, Texas 77873.
