Glyna "Nanny" Maurine Ray Wells, 90, of Navasota, was joyously received into Heaven on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 5-7pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00am at the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Cherry officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00pm in the Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Glyna was born October 17, 1922, in East Bernard, Texas, the daughter of Ovie & Lavada (Grant) Ray. Family and friends celebrated her 90th birthday with her on October 13th at the White Hall Community Center. Glyna grew up in Hughes Springs, Texas, and graduated from Hughes Springs High School in 1941. After her family moved to Bay City in 1942, she married the love of her life, Jack Wells, on November 3, 1947. Most of their lives together were spent in South Houston, Texas. She moved to Navasota in early 2009, and joined the Navasota Church of Christ. She loved to try new recipes, read, and stay in touch with everyone she loved. Glyna "Nanny" is fondly remembered for her loving spirit, her care and concern for her family and others, and her precious laugh and smile. To know her was a gift.
Survivors include son Mark Wells and wife Kathy of Navasota, daughter Gwen Dagley and husband Chuck of Pasadena; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack, son Gail Leftwich, grandson Chad Wells, parents Ovie Franklin Ray and Lavada Pearl Grant Ray, and brothers Vernon and Frank Ray.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Wells of Navasota, Ray Leftwich of Seadrift, Shane Wells of Waller, Frankie Ray of El Campo, Frank Insall of Grand Prairie, and Juan Martinez of Navasota.
Honorary pall bearers include Richard Ray of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Chuck Dagley of Pasadena, Wayne Harkins of Kerrville, Charlie Houston of Milano, Jonathon Padilla of Abilene, and Buddy Hastings of Pasadena.
