Glen D. Byers, 81, of Navasota passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at his residence.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 8 with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2008 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clyde Larrabee and Rev. Donald Kasper officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Glen was born on September 3, 1926, the son of Joseph Warden and Virgie Mae (Brooks) Byers. Mr. Byers served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He then went to work for Tubular Finishing Works and retired as the Heat Treat General Foreman.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 infant child Angela Faye Byers.
Mr. Byers is survived by his wife of 59 years: Wanda Wilson of Navasota; daughters and sons-in-law: Frieda & Curtis Frazier of Houston, Debra & Terry Balthrop of Oklahoma City, OK, and Lisa & Samuel Sanchez of Navasota; son & daughter-in-law: Barry & Karen Byers of Navasota; sister: Helen Hall of Greenville; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Balthrop of Oklahoma City, OK, Cory and Chad Frazier of Houston, Daniel Byers of Norfolk, VA, Gabriel Sanchez of Cheyenne, WY, Timothy Byers of Seattle, WA and Cameron Byers of Houston. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Aaron Musgrove and Ryan Perry.
