Mr. Fred W. "Bubba" Dickschat, Jr., 80, of Washington, passed away Sunday, February 28, at the Grimes St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota. Visitation was held from 5-7pm Monday, March 1 at Nobles Funeral Chapel, and funeral services are set for 11am Tuesday at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC, with Rev. Dr. George Klett officiating. Interment will follow in Friedens Church Cemetery.
Bubba was born in Washington to Fred William Dickschat, Sr. and Frieda (Mohr) Dickschat. He worked for many years in the prison system as an electrician. He was a member of the Sons of Herman #178, VFW #4006, served in the Korean War, helped operate Dickschat's Appliance, and worked for Gulf States Utilities for 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Delores "Tootsie" Dickschat.
Survivors include his brothers & sisters-in-law, Leonard and Betty Dickschat of Navasota, and Raymond & Joy Dickschat of Washington; nieces and nephews, Vicky Jackson & husband Mark of Navasota, Dean Dickschat & wife Joy of McKinney, Brian Dickschat & wife Joyce of Brenham, Rodney Dickschat & wife Celeste of Washington, Mark Dickschat of Washington, Dustin Dickschat & wife Diana of Irving, Brett Fowler & wife Becky of Navasota, and Darlene Trant & husband Bobby of Iola; numerous great nieces and nephews, and special caregiver Ruth Watkins.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Dickschat, Rodney Dickschat, Mark Dickschat, Dustin Dickschat, Dean Dickschat, Mark Jackson, Brett Fowler, and Bobby Trant. Honorary pallbearers are Bennie Wellmann, Harold Kolkhorst, Neal Bosse and Melvin Wellmann, Stanley Stolz, and Lugene Lohneyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friedens Church of Washington, UCC.
