Felipe Villegas, 78, of Navasota, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in Spring, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024, and the funeral service at 11 am, both at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Felipe was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to his parents Doroteo Villegas and Maria De Los Angeles Garcia. Following in his father’s footsteps and apprenticing under him, Felipe endeavored in the jewelry repair and design profession. In 1963, after the death of his father, Felipe came to the United States where he met and married Marissa Lopez with whom he had four sons. Felipe worked under several master jewelers and eventually opened his own store in 1984. This spirit of entrepreneurialism led him to venture into the restaurant business by opening up a bakery in Houston. During this transition period, he married Modesta with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. In pursuit of a life in a small town, Felipe and Modesta moved to Navasota, TX in 1995 where they settled down and established their new venture: El Paisano. Felipe and Modesta operated El Paisano for over 20 years serving their community delicious food and warm hospitality.
Though he dedicated a large portion of his time to his profession, he was a devoted father to his four sons Eric, Marco, Alex and Orlando. He enjoyed taking them to the local parks, to the drive-in movies and especially fishing and crabbing. Felipe was grateful to also spend time with and watching his grandchildren grow up.
We are so grateful and honored to have shared some of our most memorable moments with him. We will forever cherish these beautiful memories of him and continue to be inspired by his compassion for animals, love for his wife, dedication to his craftsmanship, and steadfast morals.
He is survived by his children, Eric Villegas, Marco and Maria Villegas, Alex and Sheila Villegas, and Orlando and Olga Villegas. His grandchildren include Mark, Julian, Cristian, Michael and Sophia.
Honoring his life as Pallbearers are his sons Eric, Marco, Alex, Orlando and grandsons Mark and Julian.
