Evelyn was born on May 1, 1914 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Carl and Ella (Massey) Long, Sr. She married Mark D. Lightfoot and together they raised two children. During her life of being a wife and raising children, she worked a lifelong career of over 27 years as a telephone operator. She was the voice of the lady that asked “number, please” when you placed a call. She would pull out a long cord and place the plug in the proper place in order for you to complete your call the old fashioned way. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1976. She loved people and people loved her. She loved to play dominoes and cards. She did not like to lose! Canasta and “42” were her favorites but she would play anything with anyone – adults or children. She loved the Lord, her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Linda and W. N. Fabian, Jr., of Navasota, son and daughter-in-law Donald and Billie Sue Lightfoot of Navasota; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Mark D. Lightfoot; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Frieda Long and Carl and Vera Long, Jr.
