Mr. Ernest Walker Palmer

February 16, 1940 — June 6, 2021

Mr. Ernest Walker Palmer, 81, of Navasota, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 6, 2021.. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. A celebration of his life will be held from 5:00 to 7:30, Thursday, July 22nd @ Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, Texas.
Ernest was born in Whiting, Indiana on February 16, 1940 to Mark Twain Palmer and Jennie (Chelesz) Palmer. He was one of six children.
Ernie moved his family to Navasota, Texas from Constantine, Michigan in 1980 to pursue work. Ernie and his family moved to Navasota to work at Sorrell Furniture Factory in the Industrial Park. He continued to work there until the closing of the factory. Ernie then went back work as a truck driver. In 2010, he went to work locally at Trend Services where he finally retired in 2015.
Once he retired and was home, you would most likely find him outside tinkering around doing something with his very close and dear, late friend Bill. He loved to be on the tractor getting the garden ready for spring. His other favorite thing he loved to do was being on his lawnmower. He would be out there mowing grass that didn’t need to be mowed; however, he always insisted it needed it. Ernie always made sure the lawn looked emasculate.
Ernie always looked forward to taking a trip to the Annual St. Joseph Antique Tractor show in August in Michigan. The tractor show was in August but he would leave Texas for Michigan in late May to spend the summer with his siblings. He would spend a few days before to help his two sisters get the tractor show ready.
Ernie loved spending time with the family, especially interacting with the grandchildren. He always enjoyed taking trips to the casinos.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Karen. Two daughters; Dawn and Jim Treiber of New Jersey; Donna and Kevin Schmidt of Navasota, Texas. Four sons; Donnie and Amber Robins and Ernest Palmer Jr of Navasota, Texas; Rob and Kirsten Metty of Georgia and Michael Clark. Two sisters Mary Shirk and Irene Palmer, one brother Earl Palmer of Three Rivers, Michigan; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers, an opportunity to contribute to funeral expenses will be available at the Memorial. Any contributions will be much appreciated.
