Erna Marie Hemann, 84, of Navasota, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Bluebonnet House in College Station. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 4th from 2:00 – 5:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00am Monday, October 5th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota with interment to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Mathias Dinger and Rev. Donald Kasper will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Erna was born in Navasota on December 20, 1930 to Gus and Sophie Marie (Miller) Boehm. She was baptized on January 25, 1931, confirmed on May 20, 1945, and soon after high school married Hubert Hemann on November 11, 1949, all at Trinity Lutheran Church. Erna was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, active in the choir, and she and Hubert worked with the youth for several years. She served as chairman for the Trinity Lutheran Church food pantry for over eight years. She was an Avon representative for 25 years and a Room Mother Chairman at NISD for eight years. In 1977, she and Hubert bought a service station called Hemann’s Gulf and later changed the name to Hemann’s Chevron. They retired after 17plus years in 1995.
Mrs. Hemann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Clell Goodson of Navasota; brothers and sisters-in-law Oris and Pauline Boehm of Navasota, Bill and Gloria Boehm of Anderson, Joyce Boehm of Anderson, and Jean Boehm of Manvel; sister and brothers-in-law Ruth and Fred Homeyer of Navasota and Bernard Roese of Washington; grandchildren Matt and Kristen Goodson of Navasota and Gayle Marie and Jon Mann of Bryan; and great-grandchildren Chelsie and Caleb Mann and Cody Goodson.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Homeyer, Hal Imhoff and Robert Nobles, all of Navasota, Ronnie Hemann and Randy Hemann of College Station, Gary Jaetzold of Bryan, Mark Alsup of Beaumont, and Jerry Boehm of Manvel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hubert; sisters Lucille Schaefer, Maeola Roese, Esther Schaefer, and Gertrude Hilley; and brothers Emmett, Edward and Leonard Boehm.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Trinity Lutheran Church.
