Mrs. Ella Marie Lucas

Ella Marie Harrison Lucas passed away in Austin, Texas, while residing at Park Bend Health Center on July 12, 2015. She was born on March 31st, 1918 in Walker County, Texas to Maurine Heaton Harrison and Ray Floyd Harrison. Marie graduated from Bedias High School on May 22, 1936. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Marion Lucas, her twin sister Mary Mildred Harrison, her brother Wade Stanford and his wife Dorothy Stanford and her brother Bob Stanford.
She was a member of Shiro Baptist Church in Shiro, Texas, where she lived and worshipped until she moved to Austin in March of 2002. She was treasurer/secretary of Shiro Baptist Church. Most of her adult life she was a loving, caring housewife, but worked for a time at Sears Roebuck, the North Shepherd Location in Houston. When Theo retired from Cameron Iron Works in Houston, they moved to Shiro.
She is survived by her three children, Patsy Carolyn Craven of Austin; Tommy Ray Lucas of Boerne and Sally Maurine Montgomery and husband Matt of The Woodlands, seven grandchildren, Susan Dixon and husband Eddie; Gary Lucas, Sheryl Edgerly and husband Michael, Lauren Lucas, Gilbert Ornelas and wife Kelly, Gina Ornelas Hicks, Jim Montgomery and wife Jennifer and eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of the loving care givers at Park Bend Health Center and Gentiva Hospice who cared for her the past 13 years.
Services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, July 15th at Shiro Baptist Church in Shiro, Texas with interment to follow in Independence Cemetery. Rev. Jay Kott and Rev. Jack Jeter will officiate. Viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers are Lonnie Stanford, Gary Lucas, Gilbert Ornelas, Jim Montgomery, Tommy Lucas and Matt Montgomery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shiro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 13, Shiro, Texas 77876 or the charity of your choice.
