Mr. Edwin H. Kettler, 96, of Navasota, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at The Seasons on Water Street in Navasota. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Friday, May 15th at Nobles Funeral Chapel, followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Navasota on Saturday, May 16th at 10:00am. Interment in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham will follow at 1:30pm. Rev. Matthias Dinger will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Kettler was born October 26, 1918 in William Penn, Texas to Henry and Erna (Thane) Kettler, Jr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in several overseas countries during his enlistment. He met and married Leona Luckemeyer and together they raised three children. He owned and operated a dairy farm for many, many years in Navasota.
Edwin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and James Welch of Orange, Texas, son and daughters-in-law Stanley and Carolyn Kettler and Pinney Kettler, all of Navasota; sister Lorine Schroeder of William Penn; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Pauline Kettler of William Penn; and Floyd Siptak of Navasota; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Leona; son Thomas Kettler; sisters and brothers-in-law Laura and Irvin Ashorn, Erna and Lawrence Luckemeyer and Nolan Schroeder; brothers and sisters-in-law Herbert and Alvina Kettler, Wilbert and Odell Kettler and Nina Jean Siptak.
Serving as pallbearers are Shawn Welch, William Kettler and Grady Harris, all of Navasota; Keith Welch and David Welch of Orange, Robert Kettler of Washington, Chad Kettler of Greenville and Joshua Kettler of College Station. Kathy Harris will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
