Edward T. “Tom” Johanson, 63 of Anderson, passed away Monday, May 23rd at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. The family plans to have a celebration of his life at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Tom was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Allen and Tomora Johanson on February 25, 1959. He was raised in Kerrville, Texas and moved to Anderson in the early 80's. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist most of his life until his health began to decline. Tom was passionate about the town of Anderson. He helped the town become incorporated in 1994; served as an alderman at the first town meeting and served until his resignation in 2016. A self – endorsed Foodie, Tom enjoyed cooking, entertaining, catering and most anything centered around food and fun. He also enjoyed hunting and travelling, especially, if it involved returning back home to the Hill Country or gambling at the casinos in Louisiana. He was a founding member of The Grimes County Poor Boys and always enjoyed supporting the youth of Grimes County and giving back to the community even after his health began declining.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Brittney Moreland and son-in-law Brian. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tim and Terry Johanson.
