Mrs. Doris L. "MaMaw" Whisenhunt, 82, of Navasota, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan. Visitation will be held Monday, December 8, 2008 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at the funeral chapel at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Interment will follow in the Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Doris was born Sunday, November 14, 1926 to William & Gladys (Center) Pulte in Acworth, TX. She married Burse Emmitt Whisenhunt on November 2, 1944 in Arkansas. With a tremendous talent for baking, Doris was the event coordinator and head baker for Moeller's Bakery in Houston for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister and brother-in-law, Leatrice & James Mills.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Whisenhunt of Navasota; son-in-law, Jerry Albrecht of College Station, sisters and brother-in-law, Donna & Harold Dollarhide and Aleane Mathews, all of Idabel, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy & Betty Pulte of Tool, TX and Donald & Melba Pulte of Idabel, OK; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Sean Albrecht of Navasota, Jerry Albrecht of College Station, Paul Hemperley of Houston, Tristen McMillan of Houston, and Alex Harrell of Dallas.
