Doris Floyd Thomas, 96 of Bryan, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Bryan.
She was born on October 10, 1911 in Roans Prairie, Texas daughter of Annie (Cone) and Jesse Floyd.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Reverend Matt Idom officiating. Interment will follow in Shiro Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Thomas married Ewing Thomas on November 26, 1929. She served as postmistress in Roans Prairie for thirty-three years. She blessed the lives of many people as she played the piano for forty years at the Shiro Methodist Church which was her church home. In 1972, Mrs. Thomas along with her husband moved to the Bryan where they lived out their remaining days. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bryan where she was an active member of the Amigas Sunday School Class until her illness prevented her from doing so. She was a board member of Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center Foundation, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and A.A.R.P. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Annie Floyd; husband, Ewing Thomas; sisters, Margaret Aneice Floyd and Jessie Mae Floyd Bode.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice, 1st United Methodist Church of Bryan, Crestview Retirement Community of Bryan or a charity of your choice.
