Mrs. Doris Binford, 93 of Navasota, passed away Monday, December 28th at CHI St. Joseph Healthcare Center in Bryan. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Matthias Dinger will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Binford was born in Navasota, Texas on March 28, 1927 to Will and Charlotte (Thane) Schafstall. She married Sam Binford and together they had one son, Rickey. Her high school yearbook captioned her as "another little one to keep your eye on". She was a devoted wife, mother, granny and great grandma who loved to cook and never measured anything. If you were eating lunch, you'd better be there at noon sharp! She loved chickens and working in her yard, which she took great pride in. Living across from the high school led to one of her favorite past times - sitting in her front room or working in the yard and watching the kids play and the diamonettes practice. She collected snow villages and her son Rickey said every year that it "wasn't the Christmas season until the snow villages were on display".
Doris is survived by daughter-in-law Paula Binford; grandchildren Ricklyn Binford and Will Binford and wife, Haley; great-grandson, Stetson Binford and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sam Binford; son Rickey Binford and sister Mae Stegemoller.
A special thank you to her personal caregivers these past few months for your love and dedication. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial contribution in her name be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church LWML - Ladies Aid or Trinity Lutheran Church TLC Meals; 1530 East Washington, Navasota, Texas 77868.
