Mrs. Donna Diane Arrington Rives, 62, of Navasota passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services are set for Wednesday, May 9 at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Anderson with the Rev. Mac Vaughn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Donna was born in Baytown, Texas on October 28, 1949, to Jo Ann (Jordan) Arrington and Collie Camp "Rock" Arrington, Jr. She grew up in Liberty, Texas and was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Rainbow Girls. Donna went to Liberty High School and was a twirler in the band, and she graduated in 1969. After attending Baytown Junior College, she worked in Houston for a number of years before moving to Navasota, Texas in 1979. On November 5, 1982, Donna married the love of her life, Jackson Birl Rives. After the Rose Shop was sold in 1983, she began her career at Texas A&M University as an administrative assistant and worked there until she had to retire early for health reasons.
Donna was very creative, especially in oil painting, flower arranging, and landscaping. Her "green thumb" was inherited from her grandmother, Annie Arrington. Donna loved animals, especially dogs and horses.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Jo Ann (Jordan) Brummett; her step-father, Arthur Brummett; her father, Collie Camp "Rock" Arrington, Jr; and her sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Dieslie Arrington.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Rives; her step-mother, Dorothy French Arrington; her sister, Amanda Arrington; her brothers Ernie Arrington, Michael Arrington, and Camp Arrington and wife Kim; her nieces, Kara Arrington Schulte and her husband Josh and Morgan Arrington Eldridge and husband Taylor; her nephews, Chad Arrington and wife Ashley and Ross Arrington; great niece Kendall Schulte; great nephews, Layton Arrington and Solomon Schulte; aunts and uncles, Marjorie McClure, Florence Brogdan and husband Richard, Evelyn Wozniak and husband Al, and Gay Wells and husband George; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-laws, Rodney and Karen Rives, Roger Rives, Michelle and Dwight Alexander; nieces and nephews, Kaley & Kevin Hatcher, Joel Thompson, Julia & Andrew Belcher. Donna is also survived by her special caregivers, Ninfa Sanchez and Roxanne Morales.
