He began his career at the firm Winters, Deaton, Briggs & Britton in Houston, Texas. It was there he met Mazie McMichael. David ended his career at Arnold & Ellwood in 2012, and he and Mazie retired to Navasota, Texas.
David loved gardening. He spent hours in the yard and was especially happy in Spring when he cultivated his legendary tomato crop. He also had a passion for horse racing. He was an owner of several thoroughbred race horses, and he served on the board of directors of the Texas Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association for several years. He loved hosting family and friends at the race track. He loved fishing and took his nieces and nephews on deep sea fishing trips as well as fishing off the pier with his cousins at his Aunt Gertrude's bay house. David had a love for life with a gracious and giving spirit. He was a kind man with a huge heart, and was always there to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many.
