Charles Wesley "C.W." Robbins, Jr., 59, of Iola passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 in Groesbeck.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Robbins was born September 28, 1948 in Oildale, CA, son of Goldie Virgielee (Farmer) and Charles Wesley Robbins, Sr. He served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, fought in Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star. After being honorably discharged in 1974, he began working in the oilfield. He married Paula Smith in Wyoming on September 1, 1981, and they moved to Grimes County in 1986. Along with hunting and fishing, C.W. was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and member of H.O.G. He had an enormous heart and loved his family dearly.
C.W. was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Robbins.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Sue Robbins of Iola; daughters and son-in-law, Dawn Renee and Thomas Young of Bakersfield, CA and Stephanie Suzette Robbins of Iola; sons, James Wayne Robbins of Lubbock and George Wesley Robbins of Iola; sisters, Charlcie Robbins of Fort Worth and Patsy Scott of Springfield, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Judith Robbins of Teague, Alfred and Becky Robbins of Odessa, and Johnny and Alberta Robbins of Livingston; grandchildren, Kristina Michelle Young and Anthony Monroe Robbins; and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Robbins, Alfred Robbins, Johnny Robbins, Cletus Farmer, Tommy Davis, Donald Farmer, Jeff Robbins, and Randy Scott.
