Mr. Curtis Kurten, 80, of Richards passed away at his home Sunday, April 23. A memorial celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 29 at 11:00am at Nobles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Saffle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Curtis was born in Plantersville on August 28, 1936, to Rudolph & Eva Kurten. After graduating high school he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 530th Missile Battalion in Germany. After his discharge he married Doris Hegwood and together they raised five children. Curtis worked at Gulf States Utilities for 34 years before retiring, and he served as a Deacon at Crossroads Fellowship Church in Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother David Lee Kurten; and sisters, Gussie, Madaline and Lilybell Kurten.
Mr. Kurten is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris Hegwood Kurten of Richards; sons, Richard Kurten of Maumel, AK, Darrell Kurten of Austin, Gerald Kurten of San Marcos and John Kurten of Eules; daughter Beth Kurten Donoho of Kyle; brothers, Johnny Kurten, Danny Kurten, Ronnie Kurten, Billy Kurten and Eddie Kurten; and sister Pauline Ubnoski.
