Clayton Steelman, Jr., 74, of Plantersville, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston on Monday, April 14th at 10:30am. Rev. Roylett Turner will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Clayton was born on June 8, 1939 in Dekalb, Texas to Clayton Reeves Steelman, Sr., and Dorothy Roberta (Brewer) Steelman. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier “Franklin D. Roosevelt”.
Mr. Steelman is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hanson of Crocket; daughters Terry Lynn Steelman of Franklin, Dana Jean Hext and husband Bryan of Plantersville, Tammy Taylor and husband Garry of Cypress; sister Geraldine Jones of Lovelady; grandchildren Jonathan Neelley, Roxy Meadows, Alexandria Stoker, Brad Hext and wife Irma, Shannon Spence and husband Ricky; and great grandchildren Samantha Neelley, Joe Hext, Collin and Cole Spence, Madi Hext and Jack Hext.
He was preceded in death by his father; step-father; and brothers Marshal and James Steelman.
