Christopher Kevin Hoke, 57, of Richards, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, October 23rd. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, Saturday, October 26th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 27th at Bays Chapel United Methodist Church in Richards, Texas. Rev. Floyd Hoke and Rev. Ben Tibbs will officiate. Interment will follow in Bays Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Chris was born in Houston, Texas on January 16, 1962 to Emory and Dorothy Kilmer Hoke. He married Christine Cook on July 9, 1988. The couple adopted Christines sister, Cynthia Hoke CookMoore. At the age of five, Chris began what would become a lifetime of praising Jesus with his beautiful baritone voice. He travelled extensively, singing at the White House, Branson, Las Vegas and hundreds of places in between. He sang with the Gaither Band, Dolly Pardon, Wayne Newton, among many others. He was the recipient of numerous note-worthy awards, among those an eight time recipient of the Texas Opry Male Vocalist of the Year, and the 2005 STGMA Dove Award Male Vocalist of the Year. Chris loved road trips, collecting antique cars and enjoyed being a part of his wifes large family. Perhaps a lesser known hobby of his was mowing grass. He LOVED to mow grass and would often times take the nephews along for the ride.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 31 years, Christine Hoke; daughter Cynthia Hoke CookMoore; nephews and their spouses, Ricky, Brandon and Aaron Cook; Timothy Duke, Nathan, Jason and Stephen Smith, Anthony Moore, Kent Cook, Kary Meadows, Tyler Cook and Owen Hales; nieces and their spouses, Cecile Pichon, Karla Cook Cotteau, Marissa Gibbs, Katherine Duke Ashe, Jennifer Chambers and Kayla, Ashley and Amelia Cook; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tom and Linda Cook, James and Trish Cook, Steve and Tamara Smith, Linda Duke, Dorothy and Tony Meadows and Robert and Robin Cook; grandchildren Kent Cook, Cecile Pichon and Anthony Moore; great grandson, Cade Moore and his devoted English Springer Spaniel and service dog, Trigger.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws James and Norma Jean Cook; great aunt Marjorie Weingand; Papa and Mamie Kilmer and brother-in-law, Frank Duke.
Serving as pallbearers are his beloved nephews.
