Mr. Chester Finke, 75 of Anderson passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 ast Conroe Regional Medical Center. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Monday April 2nd at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 3rd at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson with interment to follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, also in Anderson. Rev. Kermit Bostelman will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Chester was born on Ocober 27, 1942 in Navasota to Fritz and Emma (Backhus) Finke. He graduated from high school and went on to college to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree. Chester worked for Grimes County Road Maintenance for over 30 years. He enjoyed working in the garden, as well as shelling pecans and picking berries. He could often be seen riding his lawnmower around town. He found solace in sitting quietly, looking at the moon and savored a slow country ride so that he could take in the scenery.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Clarence Emshoff of Willis; nieces Lisa Emshoff of Conroe and Kim Eilers and husband Kenny of Willis; and great niece and nephews Kristen, Noah and Nathan Eilers.
Serving as pallbearers are Gerald Schroeder, Willie Gerald Leiber, Tommy Szymczak and La Vearne Backhus, all of Anderson; Kenny Eilers of Willis and Thomas Kowis of Plantersville.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents.
