Charles E. Wilson, 70, of Hempstead passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5th at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with Rev. Benny Johnson of Shiloh Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Wilson was born July 26, 1937, son of Lawrence Albert and Mary Lou (Scarbrough) Wilson. Charles loved horses and made his career as a ferrier. He also loved being outdoors, especially hunting. He was always there to help others and had a special fondness of assisting underprivileged children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Odell Wilson.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Lea Hancock Wilson of Hempstead; daughters and son-in-law, Gay & Jeff Pivonka of Hempstead and Toni Ann Wendt of White Hall; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis & Madeline Wilson of Hempstead and Glenn & Kimberly Wilson of Navasota; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Bobby Phillips of Trinity and Juanita Crocker of Clute; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don & Sally Wilson of Crockett and Merle & Gloria Wilson of Huntsville; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc.
