Mr. Lockett was born September 8, 1941 in Hempstead, Texas to Golden Lockett and Noltha Barnes. Charles proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. Charles married Ester Torres on January 28, 1968 in Houston. Together they had two children. Charles provided for his family by working as a truck driver. Larger than life, Charles was very charismatic and personable. He never met a stranger. Generous and giving, he’d lend a helping hand to anyone. He doted on his grandchildren and recently was blessed with a great-grandson bearing his middle name. He enjoyed tending his cattle and horses on their small farm in Anderson. He liked watching all sports but was particularly fond of Field and Track competitions. Lockett is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Ester Lockett of Anderson; daughter Margaret Lockett Mott of Cypress; son-in-law Kevin Mott of Houston; sisters Bernice, Linda and Shirley Burrell, all of Houston; brother and sister-in-law David Wayne and Felicia Lockett of Houston; grandchildren Kristin, Mikayla and Kaitlin Mott and Jeremy Lockett and great-grandson Decklen “Willis” Westerman.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and son Charles Lockett, Jr.
