Charles L. Kimbell, 93, formerly of Houston, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Southern Knights Assisted Living in Tomball.
Visitation will be 1:00pm – 3:00pm Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 3, 2014, at 10:00am at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Rev. Floyd Hoke will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Charles was born in Jackson, Georgia to Charles Marvin Kimbell and Mary Jones (Land) Kimbell on February 5, 1920. He attended college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. In January of 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant and was awarded the Silver Star and Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Wanda Duncan and resided in Houston where he was self-employed as an inventor and physicist. He was a member of the Singleton Baptist Church and was a Shriner.
Mr. Kimbell is survived by his son, Tom Kimbell and wife Cathy of Tomball; two grandsons, Christopher Kimbell and wife Kim of Bozeman, Montana and Wesley Kimbell of Tomball; four granddaughters, Ashley Arnold and husband John of College Station, Bethany Kimbell of Tomball, Katie Haneklaus of College Station, and Haley Jennings of Maple Grove, Montana; and two great granddaughters, Paige and Sydney Kimbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda; son, Chris Kimbell; brother, Joe Kimbell and step-daughter, Cynthia Heneklaus.
