Charles D. “Moose” Goodman, 86, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Tomball Nursing Home in Tomball, Texas. His previous home was Jasper, Texas, where he enjoyed his retirement years fishing and visiting with his many friends. Graveside services are Wednesday, July 1st at 10:30am in the Madeley Chapel at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota, Texas. Rev. Christopher Nguyen of Magnolia will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Charles was born in Navasota on June 14, 1929 to Charles A. and Wyatt Browning Goodman. After graduating from Navasota High School, he began his career working in the oil field. Through the years he worked for several oil companies beginning as a roughneck and continuing on as a driller, and later as a Well Control School Instructor for Sun Oil Company in Beaumont. In the 1970s he worked with contractors as a driller in Malaysia and Indonesia. After a time overseas, he returned to the states and worked for Tenneco Oil Company as a drilling supervisor until his retirement.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Don and Dee Goodman of Navasota, and Paul and Pam Goodman of Magnolia; brothers and sister-in-law Phillip and Elaine Goodman of Houston and Bob Goodman of Arkansas; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Doyle, Bill and Richard Goodman; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Ruth Goodman, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Mickey Sznenasi and Mildred and Bubba Easley.
