Carrie L. (Boggess) Rogers, 88, of Navasota, expired Saturday, August 9, 2014 at her home. Viewing will be held Friday, August 15 from 5:00 until 7:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 16th at the Salem House of Blessings in Navasota. Interment will follow in the Nibblett Cemetery. Rev. Charles Tompkins will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Carrie was born in Navasota on April 12, 1926 to Frank and Mary Helen (DeBose) Boggess. She married Carl Rogers, Sr. and together they raised four children. She was a devoted housewife , mother, and dedicated member of her church, Salem House of Blessings, where she served as a Church Mother and member of the Ruth Circle. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and being surrounded by all of her family brought her great joy. She was an excellent cook and loved providing food for family and church gatherings. She loved working in her yard, and growing beautiful flowers were her passion. She also worked for Dr. and Mrs. H. Stewart for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Carl Rogers, Jr., of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn R. Peterson of Houston, Gail and Wheeler Johnson of Houston and Josephine and Calvin Kindle of Navasota; sisters and brothers-in-law Marie Kenney of Corpus Christi and Helen and David Sanders of Texas City; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Marie Boggess of Texas City; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Rebecca Banks and Beatrice Boggess; and brother Herman Boggess.
Serving as pallbearers are Adam Peterson, III., Wheeler Johnson, Jr., and Adrin Rogers, all of Houston; Douglas Wayne Franklin, Jr., of Navasota; Christopher Boggess of Texas City and Andrew Lattimore of Navasota. Honorary pallbearers are Wheeler Johnson, Sr., Carl Rogers, Jr., Calvin Kindel, Homer Stewart and David Sanders.
