Mr. Bruce Johnson, 70, of Navasota, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are set for 2:00 pm Thursday, March 5th at Anderson Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Childress officiating.
Mr. Johnson was born March 2, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio, to Russell & Dorothy Johnson. He grew up in Ohio and excelled in track and field. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Bruce made a career of construction and subdivision development. He married Becky West on November 6, 1998 in Nashville, Tennessee and the couple moved to Grimes County in 2006. As owner of Westwick Construction, Bruce, Becky, and his son Patrick are currently developing the Stone Ridge Subdivision in Navasota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Janice Johnson; and brothers, Paul & David Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Becky Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick & Cathy Johnson of Conroe and Tim & Devry Johnson of Conroe; step-children, Sammie Scott and husband Clay of Atascocita, Barbara Horacefield and husband Todd of Atascocita, and Curtis Ramsdale and wife Stephanie of Conroe; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon & Paul Joplin of Spring; and 12 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
