Billy McDuffie

Mr. Billy D. McDuffie 75, of Iola, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 28 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are set for 3:00 pm Wednesday at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church in Keith with Rev. Jerald Brown and Rev. Randy Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Cemetery.
Billy was born December 3, 1933 in Iola, to William and Winnie (Franklin) McDuffie. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later married Ima Myrle Burns on May 30, 1957 in Iola. Billy was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church, and his hobbies included gardening, fishing, cattle raising, and creating and welding items for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle McDuffie; children, Wanda & Milton Schroeder of Anderson, Pam & Thomas Johnson of North Zulch, and Tammy & Larry Harvey of Iola; grandchildren, William & Deana Schroeder of Lott, Kevin & Kristi McDuffie of Iola, Stephen & Miranda Schroeder of Brenham, Stephanie Schroeder of Anderson, Jamie & Jason Rosipal of Iola, Heather Harvey of Iola, and Streater Johnson of North Zulch; great-grandsons, Tyler Martin of Anderson, Hayden Schroeder of Lott, Luke McDuffie of Iola, Leylan Schroeder of Brenham, and Rhyder Rosipal of Iola; sisters and brother-in-law, Eva Mae Franklin of Amarillo and Harriet & Oscar Estep of Pennington; and brother and sister-in-law, Emory & Mary McDuffie of Iola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Serving as pallbearers are James Dixon, James Ray Trant, Tony Compian, Dexter Lavender, David McDougald and Bobby Brown. Honorary pallbearers include William Schroeder, Kevin McDuffie, Stephen Schroeder, Streater Johnson, Morris Surface, B.J. Surface, Chase Cammack, and Hayden Archer.
