Mrs. Bernice Pirtle, 79, of Richards, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 29th at the Richards Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Joe Saffel officiating. Interment will follow in the Richards Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Bernice was born on November 11, 1931 in Gonzales, TX, to L.H. & Effie Enderli. After working many years as a cafeteria supervisor in the Galena Park I.S.D., she and her husband J.Q. Pirtle retired to Richards. She was active in the Richards Baptist Church, the Richards Civic Center, and the Richards Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Pirtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Sheila Welch.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Arcenaux of Rosharon and Shannon Kaiser of Gladewater; sister, Inez Mathis and her husband Theodore of Willis; brothers, Robert Enderli and his wife Daisy of Willis and Calvin Enderli and his wife Shirley of Houston; granddaughters, Stacey, Jennifer, Katie, Kylie, Charlene, and Helena; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are George Massey of Richards, Gentry Cartwright of Montgomery, Teddy Mathis of Willis, and Scott Stubler, Gary Teal, and Cal Enderli, Jr. all of Houston.
