Mrs. Barbara Ruth Hurley, 82 of Bryan passed away Saturday, January 27th at The Fortress in College Station. Visitation with family and friends will be held 5:00 - 7:00pm, Tuesday, January 30th at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, Texas. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 31st at 11:00 am at Peach Creek Cemetery in College Station. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Barbara was born on March 2, 1935 in Bryan, Texas to King David and Oma (Pearson) Curd. She was married to James Hurley until his death in 2011. She worked various jobs throughout their marriage, but the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker, taking care of her husband and children. Barbara liked being outdoors, particularly working in the yard. She enjoyed doing crafts and creating painted gourds into birdhouses for various craft fairs. For 15 years, Barbara unselfishly gave of her time volunteering for the Bryan Hospice resale shop.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and John Martin of Corpus Christi and Lindra and Ricky Blum of College Station; sons and daughter-in-law Clinton Hurley of Bryan, Donald and Leanna Carey of Millican and Dennis Carey, also of Millican; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband James Hurley and sister, JoAnn Plante.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Peach Creek Cemetery, P. O. Box 6826, Bryan, TX 77802.
