Arthur "Vernon" Price, 94, of Millican, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his residence.
Visitation will be at Nobles Funeral Chapel Wednesday, May 21 with the family present from 5:30-7:30 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, May 22, at the funeral chapel with Rev. David Medina of Millican Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Peach Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Vernon was born on November 29, 1913 in Wellborn, son of Benjamin and Buna (Williams) Price. He served his country during WW II with the U.S. Navy and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps. A true outdoorsman, Vernon loved farming, fishing, and hunting.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Weldon Price and George Romney Price; and sister, Emily Ruth Carroll.
He is survived by his sister, Billie Cowen of Millican; brother and sisters-in-law, Glennis Lee & Janie Price of Lufkin, Lillian Price of Millican, and Hazel Price Wilson of Florida; nieces, Kay Price Hayes of Florida, Emily Price Staples of Millican, Margaret Price Dwyer of The Woodlands, Tracey Price Shannon of Lufkin, and Janice Cowen Shellabarerger of Weimer; nephews, David Price of Maryland, Charles Price of Lufkin, George Carroll of Bryan, and J.B. & Jim Carroll, both of Peach Creek; 9 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Jim Carroll, George Carroll, Charles Price, J.B. Carroll, Mike Shellabarerger, and Arnold Kroll.
Memorials may be made to the Millican Community Center or the South Brazos County Fire Department.
