Mr. Arch Phillip Karonka, 83 of Anderson, passed away Thursday, January 9th at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, January 14th at Nobles Funeral Chapel, followed by a service at 10:30 am, also at the funeral home. Rev. Edward Kucera will officiate. Interment will follow in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Arch was born in Anderson, Texas on May 24, 1936, the fourth of six children, to Charlie and Ella (Sechelski) Karonka. He lived in Anderson all of his life. He farmed and ranched, and established his own construction company. Arch was a hard worker, determined, stubborn and tough as nails but beneath that exterior he was genuine and honest and always had a good story to tell. Arch was a formidable squirrel hunter, an avid fisherman and an accomplished cook. He was also a mean domino (Moon) player.
Arch is survived by his wife, Pam; son James Karonka; daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Steve Alvarado, Ashleigh and Justin Hill and Julie and Jorge Parra; brother Sylvester Karonka and Janet Nobles; sister Vicki Stark; grandchildren Sonya Alvarado, Stephanie Weston and husband Waylon, Michael Alvarado, Mila Parra, Emersyn Hill and Case Hill; great-grandchildren Kaitlynn Weston and Jacob Alvarado and numerous other relatives and beloved friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Karonka, Mark Karonka,
Justin Hill, Zachary Jones, Cody Alexander and Jerome Pasket.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Floyd and Marion (John) Karonka and sister Elizabeth Leatherwood.
