Rosie Lee Abercrombie, 87, of Navasota passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the College Station Medical Center. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Monday, October 3 at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are set for 11am Tuesday at the Union Grove Baptist Church in Whitehall with the Rev. Jack Jeter officiating. Interment will follow in the Courtney Cemetery.
Rosie was born in Cawthon on May 8, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Emma (Frank) Smith. She married Thomas V. Abercrombie in Grimes County on October 2, 1945 and loved him until his passing in 2006.
She served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Thomas and Charlie Smith; and sisters, Willie Emma Mack and Minnie Hester.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Griggs and husband Steven of Sugar Land; son, TV Abercrombie II and wife Robbie of Navasota; sisters, Louise Busse of Navasota, May Dell Izard of Houston, Betty Martin of Houston, Lillie Mae Burns of California, Helen Thiel of Brenham and Gracie Lucherk of Navasota; grandchildren, Trey and Todd Abercrombie, Laura Alexander, Jenny Winton and Steven E. Griggs, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Lathan Griggs and Anastasia, Brianna and Justin Alexander.
Serving as pallbearers are Kie Lucherk of North Zulch, Trey and Todd Abercrombie of Navasota, Laura Alexander of Spring, Jenny Winton of The Woodlands, and Steven Griggs, Jr. of Sugar Land.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Courtney Cemetery Association.
