Michael Ray Valentine, 56, of Crockett, passed away September 25, 2022, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13 at 10:00 AM at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brad Perry officiating. Interment will be in Houston National Cemetery at 12:45 PM on Friday, October 14. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Michael was born in Houston on February 14, 1966, to Thomas Charles Warren and Betty Jean Qualls. He proudly served in the United States Navy and toured over 20 countries. Over his career, he was recognized with many awards including the Terrorism Hero Award.
He had many hobbies and interests. He loved eating and was a great chef. Michael felt at home in the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling. He also loved cats and dogs and watching Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Most importantly, Michael was a believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his cherished his favorite verse, Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all of you who are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Luz Escalante; mother, Betty Strangmeyer; sons, Alex Valentine and Victor Gonzalez; daughters, Jessica Strickland, Marilyn Hidalgo and husband Jose; two grandchildren; sister, Susan Perla and husband Eric. Michael was preceded in death by his father.
